Toll Fraud Warning

Long Distance Telephone Fraud
Dear Customer,
It has been revealed that telephone fraud perpetrators have been accessing
telephone systems in Bermuda and attempting to initiate multiple long distance
calls to various remote countries. The scam involves unknown persons
or organizations hacking into customers' Telephone PBX or Key System voice mail
or corporate auto-attendant systems and fraudulently dialing back out to various
international destinations.
The fraudulent action appears to be carried out independent of which local
access provider, telephone system provider, equipment manufacturer, or long
distance telephone provider the victim business might have.
We are currently working with CCS' telephony partners; Nortel, Avaya and
Cisco to ensure any and all preventative technical solutions are implemented as
quickly as they can. In conjunction with this action, we are also working
closely with local Long Distance carriers, to identify such activity.
In the meantime, we are urging customers to be vigilant and to closely
inspect their long distance telephone bills for unauthorized calls or any
unusual call activity to remote destinations, especially occurring at odd times
outside regular business hours.
Should you notice any suspicious call activity on your account please contact our
Service Desk at 294-3434. Or you may contact one of the following, Your
Account Manager or CCS' Director of Network & Telephony Services (Walter
Burgess) at 294-3415.
Regards,
CCS Customer Service Team
